About

I’m an American foreign correspondent interested in climate.

I was previously a Moscow correspondent for the Guardian and the Telegraph, and my work has appeared in The Atlantic, National Geographic, The Nation, The New York Times, Time and VICE News, among others.

I’ve broken stories including the second Skripal poisoner’s identity, the deployment of Wagner mercenaries to Libya and the anthrax outbreak from thawing permafrost in the Russian Arctic.

I’ve reported from war zones, breakaway states, the Olympics, the only floating nuclear power plant and the coldest permanently inhabited place on earth.

I’ve been honored with Scripps environmental journalism and Logan nonfiction fellowships.
